When is practice?
The practice schedule is set after the registration period. Training sessions are scheduled after players and teams have been identified. This is usually finalized sometime in August for the Fall season and sometime in March for the Spring season. Practice schedule is communicated by the head coaches just prior to the start of the season.
How many practices are there?
There is a minimum of one practice a week which is led by a professional trainer from United Soccer Academy. The practice schedule is dependent on the number of teams participating, the number of available fields and trainers. Trainer practices are on a weekday and are usually scheduled between 4:30-6:30 for younger age groups and 5:30-7:30 for older age groups.
There is usually a second practice, however this is scheduled at the discretion and availability of the volunteer coaches.
When are games played?
Games are usually played on Saturdays, with Sundays usually reserved for make-up games due to inclement weather or player availability.
Are there tryouts?
No, there are no tryouts for Intercounty soccer. Players are assigned to teams based on their birth-year and all get an opportunity to play
Me and my (Husband, Wife, Partner, Guardian) work and may not be able to get to practice in time, what can we do?
The Cranford Soccer Club recognizes the challenges in managing work-life balance and being able to have the flexibility to get your child to a weeknight practice. If you have a friend or neighbor whom can help share car-pooling responsibilities for you child, simply add this information to the Special Requests comments field when registering your child. While we can’t satisfy all requests, the Cranford Soccer Club will do everything we can to help ensure your child has a great playing experience.
How far do we have to travel for a game?
One of the great benefits of InterCounty soccer is the reduced commitment on families participating, particularly when it comes to travel. All participating teams in InterCounty Soccer are within a 20-mile radius of Cranford. Neighboring towns such as Clark, Scotch-Plains, Springfield and Mountainside participate. Currently the furthest participating town is Bound Brook.
How long are the games?
For U9-U11 games are 1 hour, U13 are 75 minutes, U15 and Above are 85 minutes.
My son (or daughter) is playing Middle School soccer, can he/she still play InterCounty Soccer?
Yes, a player on the Middle School team can still play InterCounty Soccer.
My son (or daughter) is playing on the Cranford Soccer Travel team, can he also play InterCounty Soccer?
Yes, a player on a Cranford Soccer Travel team can still play InterCounty Soccer. This is a new regulation that was changed by our league partner SYSL in 2019 and adopted by CSC in 2021. We encourage players that would like more soccer to register for both programs. Please let the VP of Inter-county know that you will be registering for both so that the coach can be notified prior to team formation and flighting recommendations for our league.
